CNY plans

Postby Sardonicus » 6th Feb, '10, 14:22

Almost too short to do much with it, too long to sit around the pool.

What are you doing for CNY?

Was thinking about HCM but it's probably too late to get reasonably priced accommodations and flights and I can't be arsed...

So what do you use? I seem to remember the inversely-named 'taxi meter' taxis don't turn on their meters in Phuket, but maybe I am confusing that with somewhere else.

In the end it's all about the negotiation before you get in the vehicle. But from my recent trip to Samui, I found that some driver were as easy to walk away as I was from what they were offering and what I was prepared to pay.

Edit: I've been wanting to ask for a while now, who is that in your avatar EPY? I suppose I should know but...

Hiring a car is pretty cheap in Phuket and avoids the hassle of dealing the those taxi drivers , who charge 10 times the price of a taxi in Bangkok

I love it, means it was a bad time for me to travel, everyones away or coming home, and my stuffs been deferred to March la la la.

Just watched a lovely little segment on ABC about a family CNY celebration. So to confirm, gifts of oranges to my Chinese colleagues would be well received?

Getting ready - I've got my new notes, my ang pau, new haircut and Chinese New Year outfit for the kid. Planning meals now, must do shopping this week, plus goodies, oranges, bak kwa etc. Got some cleaning to do. Just a family thing at home. The big reunion won't be til later in the month, Mr VS's cousin is having an open house.
