Lunch on Saturday

Hi all,

Anyone know of a good lunch spot to take a visiting work colleague on Saturday? Just som,ething with a nice selection of food and relaxed area to sit around. The colleague will be staying at Clarke Quay so plan was to pick up and go from there. Was think maybe Chjimes or one of the Sentosa restaurants, but unsure what is open at that time.

I went down to Epicurious again last visit. It was still a lovely relaxed spot and has an extended menu now to include pastas etc - I still had the tasting platter though. But might be too local for where staying if you wanted to get out of area or a bit more busy. The Japanese restaurant is still next door too, but I never tried that place.

Brewerkz is off the list, I wouldn't think of taking people there.

Epicurious sounds interesting, will check it out more.

Anyone know of anything on Sentosa?

Not Sentosa but had a lovely lunch at an Italian restaurant at Portsdown Road the other weekend. Name escapes me, but it's across from The Colbar. Grab a seat on the terrace!

Oh and a to die for chocolate shop just next door. My idea of heaven, really.

oh that made my tummy rumble, and just think I am a half hour away from brown slop (literally) on a metal tray to shovel in with metal chopsticks.

That sounds nice Daff, I know the place but never been. It's quite relaxed there, never thought of it.

However, I'll delete the brown slop with metal trays and utensils, Sounds absolutely horrifying! There again, last time I was in Shanghai the works dinner was not much better.

it was brown and it was sloppy LOL the only saving grace is they packed it with chilli. the guy at my table eats raw garlic with his, he peels it at the table. mmmmm. Anyway I'll delete the comments, and once you've got the name chuck it up here for the useful section, for those of us popping through during the year. I love sitting outside for afternoon lunch sessions in the tropics.

That would be Pietrasanta and Laurent's Cafe & Chocolate Bar.
Laurent's main cafe is at Robertson Quay. Brussel Sprouts has got a good selection of light nibbles and nosh.

Pietrasanta, not really ringing any bells, but yes, a pleasant place for lunch in a different setting.

As for Colbar, now that brings back some memories. Mostly unpleasant, hangover type ones! Does anyone still go there?

Bar 26 on East Coast Park is quite nice, leafy, tropical and by the seaside.

There is another 'italian' place next to Colbar. User to be called Cockroach (or something), but has changed name now

What about Halia in the Botanic Gardens? You would have to book but the outside veranda area is lovely.

Indochine not open at weekends on a Saturday. Flutes at the Fort do a Saturday brunch, looks good.

Epicurious is nice and not too local as it's usually full of expats on the weekend. Further down from there along the water is Boomerang, which we often go for brunch. It's big but it gets pretty crowded at lunch time.

sorry, bit misunderstanding, I meant local in terms of locale to where he was staying so might have been more interesting to go outside ares.
